System Overview
How the Platform Works
From the Art is infrastructure for art transactions with charitable allocation built into the process. Artists control their pricing and giving. Buyers see exactly where funds go. The platform enforces the rules.
What You Control
You choose what to buy. The artist has already chosen where a portion goes.
Browse
All works are listed by verified artists. Each listing shows the artist's chosen nonprofit and donation percentage—set by them, not us.
Purchase
At checkout, you see the full breakdown: artwork price, shipping, and the portion allocated to charity. Payment is processed through Stripe. No hidden fees.
Receive
The artist ships directly to you. Each work includes a Certificate of Authenticity with a unique serial number. Charitable allocation happens automatically—no action required from you.
What You Control
You set your prices, choose your cause, and fulfill your orders. The platform handles verification, payments, and charitable transfers.
Apply
Submit your profile and sample work. We verify identity and artistic practice—this is a filter, not a curation.
Get Verified
Verification confirms you are who you say you are. It protects buyers and establishes provenance from the first sale.
List & Configure
You control pricing, shipping terms, and charitable allocation. Choose any Canadian registered nonprofit. Set your own percentage.
Sell & Ship
When a sale occurs, you ship directly. After the return window, funds transfer to your account. The platform takes no cut—only a monthly subscription.
Value Flows
Where the Money Goes
Every transaction has three destinations: the artist, the nonprofit, and payment processing. That's it.
Example: $500 Artwork
Artist has set 10% charitable allocation
The charitable allocation comes from the artist's earnings, not an additional charge to the buyer.

Common Questions
How does charitable allocation work?
The artist selects a Canadian registered nonprofit and sets a percentage (minimum 10%) when listing. This allocation is locked at time of listing—buyers see it before purchase. The platform enforces the transfer; the artist cannot redirect it after sale.
Who controls pricing?
The artist sets all prices—artwork, shipping, and donation percentage. The platform displays these transparently but does not negotiate or adjust them. Buyers see the full breakdown before checkout.
What happens if something goes wrong?
Buyers have a 7-day return window after delivery. During this period, funds are held. If a dispute arises, the platform mediates but does not guarantee outcomes. Clear documentation (photos, tracking) protects both parties.
How are artists compensated?
Artists receive 100% of the sale price minus Stripe processing fees (~2.9% + $0.30). There is no commission. Artists pay a flat monthly subscription for platform access—this aligns incentives and keeps pricing predictable.
